How to choose a CIJ inkjet printer
A practical checklist for factory buyers and integrators selecting continuous inkjet (CIJ) for coding and marking.
1. Define the code content
List required fields: expiry date, lot/batch, operator ID, barcode/QR, logo. If you need QR with rolling serials, confirm the HMI supports serial objects and reset policies.
2. Measure line speed and throw distance
Record conveyor speed (m/min) and the gap from printhead to product. Also decide ink color: black ink for light surfaces, white ink for dark cables and dark plastics.
3. Match ink to substrate

4. Operator workflow
Changeovers kill OEE. Prefer an editor where templates, clocks and serials are easy to update — and maintenance steps are guided on-screen.
5. TCO beyond machine price
